Buffalo Elementary is a new "Communities In Schools" school and Chastity Miller is the new site coordinator! Communities In Schools provides support for students and families empowering students to stay in school and succeed in life. Our focus this year: Increase Family and Student Engagement.
What does this look like at our school?
• Communication: family to school and school to family
• Family workshops and activities (schedule to come soon!)
• Support for students giving them the tools to be confident, empowered learners. • Support for families
Some things I do at BES this year are:
• Work with office staff to monitor attendance and follow up on absences. • Build Positive Relationships with staff, students, and families • Basic needs support: Food, clothing, personal hygiene • Small group student support • One-on-one student and family support. • Goal setting • Connect families to community agencies and support. • Provide an additional avenue of communication for families.
